Performance William Hunt at 7 pm
William Hunt's performance “Even As You See Me Now” is filmed at Rotwand and is shown in the exhibition as a video and in photographic documentation. Once again it centres on the creation of an extremely unpleasant situation, which if it continued very long would endanger the artist’s life. Although half crushed by the considerable weight of an upended piano leaning sideways across him, Hunt continues to play his musical game, the colossal effort this requires visible however in his face. Demonstrating his own vulnerability in the form of a song, he subverts the codified image of unbridled rock-star masculinity, with all its macho affectations, and turns a popular musical instrument, which since the nineteenth century has spread like wildfire throughout bourgeois households, on its head.
